We invite qualified candidates to apply today to meet future need in the sciences at our campuses inPearland TX.    Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required to teach on campus   The typical course of instruction may include:   Introduction to General, Organic & Biological Chemistry with Lab(CHEM-120) This is a survey course that covers the lower division chemistry disciplines of general and organic chemistry and introduces the upper division discipline of biochemistry. The general chemistry section of the course seeks to build an understanding of basic chemical processes and states of matter by starting with the definition of matter and progressing through the atom, molecules, intermolecular interactions, chemical equations, and accounting. The organic chemistry section presents the major categories of organic compounds, including saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons and oxygen- and nitrogen-containing compounds. In the biochemistry portion, students are exposed to the four majorbiological macromolecules with some coverage of enzymes and the central dogma of biology. Lab exercises relate to topics discussed.   Fundamentals of Microbiology with Lab (BIOS-242) This course covers basic concepts of microbiology, with emphasis on medically important microorganisms and infectious diseases. Also addressed are microscopy, microbial growth and genetics, antimicrobial agents, epidemiology and immune system responses to pathogens. Lab exercises focus on aseptic techniques, isolation and culture of microorganisms, microscopy and staining techniques.   Anatomy & Physiology I-IV with Lab (BIOS-251 thru BIOS-256) This is a four-course sequence in which human anatomy and physiology are studied using a body systems approach. Coursework emphasizes interrelationships between form and function at the gross and microscopic levels of organization. Topics include: - Basic anatomical and directional terminology, muscle tissues, fundamental concepts and principles of cell biology, history and the integumentary and skeletal systems - Fundamental concepts and principles of the muscular and nervous systems, special senses and the endocrine system - Cardiovascular, immune and respiratory systems - Digestive, urinary and reproductive systems Courses meet once or twice a week, typically for 2-4 hours per day; courses run in eight week sessions. The face-to-face interaction in lab and classroom is blended with technology (such as online discussions and online assignments) for an enhanced learning environment. Commitment is on a course by course basis.
