This course focuses on topics such as basic treatment of algebraic expressions, solving linear equations and inequalities, graphing linear equations and inequalities, polynomial operations, positive and negative integral exponents, factoring, systems of linear equations, radical and rational expressions, quadratic equations and various application problems.
ENGL-117 English Composition and ENGL-147 Advanced English Composition:
This course builds on the conventions and techniques of composition through critical reading requirements and longer, more sophisticated reports, including a library research paper. Assignments require revising and editing for an intended audience. Students are also taught search methods for accessing a variety of print and electronic resources.
POLI-332 Political Science:
This course explores political systems in a comparative way, with emphasis on governmental forms, constitutions, determinants of foreign policy and methods of political change. Studies of recent political history, current world affairs and the structure of political institutions are included. This course fulfills the state requirement for study of the State of Nevada and U.S. constitutions.

Students utilize comprehensive assessment techniques, advanced nursing skills and multiple nursing modalities to maximize optimal health. A variety of population and settings are used in the experiential learning component of this course.
Mental-Health Nursing
Emphasis is on the dynamics of an individual’s ability to function in society. The course focuses on content relative to anxiety, self concept, thought disorders, mood alterations, addictive behaviors, organic brain dysfunction, abuse and violence issues. It also incorporates health promotion and wellness issues such as stress management and personal growth. Therapeutic communication techniques, individual and group therapy practices and community mental-health resources are also incorporated.
Pediatric Nursing
You will be mentoring students, in a clinical setting, while they demonstrate nursing skills and procedures. Family-centered care of children is the focus of this course, exploring issues of normal child care as well as health alterations of children from infancy through adolescence. Students participate as members of the multidisciplinary health team to provide health promotion, illness prevention, health restoration and maintenance and rehabilitative care to children and families.
Adult Health (Medical-Surgical) Nursing
The focus of this course is on the needs of adult patients and their families in relation to health promotion and management of conditions that require acute and chronic care. The nursing process is used in the discussion of health alterations affecting selected life processes. Students continue their professional skill development as members of the health team.
Maternal-Child Nursing
This course focuses on family-centered approaches to maternal/newborn care and incorporates health promotion and wellness issues. The childbearing cycle, including normal experience, high-risk factors, complications and alterations are studied. Additional women’s health issues are included.
Community Health Nursing
Theory and concepts of community/public/global health utilizing levels of prevention are presented in this course. The public/community health nurse’s role as a partner with the community to shape conditions supportive of health is emphasized through application of the nursing process, beginning with the assessment of the community’s health, wellness needs and available resources. Planning, organization and delivery of service for populations at risk are tied to Healthy People 2020 goals with an introduction to political and sociocultural aspects of community, demographic and epidemiological methods

Do you have a passion for helping nursing students and a desire to be part of an innovative simulation program? Chamberlain’s sophisticated SIMCARE CENTER facilities closely replicate hospital and clinical settings. The nursing skills laboratories feature high-tech training equipment including patient monitoring, birthing simulators and physical assessment exam tables. Many of our students point to their experience in the SIMCARE CENTER as the first time they felt like a “real nurse.” During simulated scenarios, students are challenged to react in real-time to patient scenarios and are empowered to take the lead in the care of their patient.
The Clinical Learning Lab Specialist, reporting to the Manager, SIMCARE Center, will assume the following:
- Supports all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences for campus and web-based students by assisting deans, assistant deans, program/course coordinators, faculty, and students with appropriate resources to successfully complete evidence-based learning opportunities in simulated patient care environment;
- Supports faculty and College leadership with initiatives involving clinical simulation research and effective teaching strategies in a simulated patient care environment;
- Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of national Standard Operating Procedures through best practice sharing and regular communications with other campus Lab Coordinators and leadership;
- Supports the mission and philosophy of the College and represents the College to clinical agencies, students, and the community through lab and simulation scheduling and collaborative efforts.

Collaborating with academic partners, faculty and staff, the Professional Nursing Tutor is instrumental in helping Chamberlain students during their academic program and as they prepare for success with the NCLEX-RN exam. Working with students individually and in small groups, the Tutor will assess learning styles, identify strengths, and discover opportunities for academic development. Creating and implementing personalized remediation plans, the Tutor is an important partner for our students as they prepare for academic and professional success.

Anatomy & Physiology I-IV with Lab (BIOS-251 thru BIOS-256)
This is a four-course sequence in which human anatomy and physiology are studied using a body systems approach. Coursework emphasizes interrelationships between form and function at the gross and microscopic levels of organization.
Topics include:
- Basic anatomical and directional terminology, muscle tissues, fundamental concepts and principles of cell biology, history and the integumentary and skeletal systems
- Fundamental concepts and principles of the muscular and nervous systems, special senses and the endocrine system
- Cardiovascular, immune and respiratory systems
- Digestive, urinary and reproductive systems
Introduction to General, Organic & Biological Chemistry with Lab(CHEM-120)
This is a survey course that covers the lower division chemistry disciplines of general and organic chemistry and introduces the upper
division discipline of biochemistry. The general chemistry section of the course seeks to build an understanding of basic chemical processes and
states of matter by starting with the definition of matter and progressing through the atom, molecules, intermolecular interactions, chemical
equations, and accounting. The organic chemistry section presents the major categories of organic compounds, including saturated and
unsaturated hydrocarbons and oxygen- and nitrogen-containing compounds. In the biochemistry portion, students are exposed to the four major
biological macromolecules with some coverage of enzymes and the central dogma of biology. Lab exercises relate to topics discussed.
Fundamentals of Microbiology with Lab (BIOS-242)
This course covers basic concepts of microbiology, with emphasis on medically important microorganisms and infectious diseases. Also addressed are microscopy, microbial growth and genetics, antimicrobial agents, epidemiology and immune system responses to pathogens. Lab exercises focus on aseptic techniques, isolation and culture of microorganisms, microscopy and staining techniques.
Courses meet once or twice a week, typically for 2-4 hours per day; courses run in eight week sessions. The face-to-face interaction in lab and classroom is blended with technology (such as online discussions and online assignments) for an enhanced learning environment. Commitment is on a course by course basis.
