    The Library assistant provides essential library services and participates in a wide range of public services, and clerical functions. 

    Responsibilities

    • Assisting students with research books, periodicals, micro-fiche, software, and copying mircro-fiche
    • Maintaining/ordering/updating of materials, library equipment (e.g. copy machines, general library environment, circulation system
    • Accurately and courteously participates in the provision of circulation service, including circulation of course reserve materials
    • Assists in processing, overdue notices, interlibrary loan lending and borrowing by retrieving and photocopying materials to be lent, by faxing or mailing these materials to borrowing libraries, and by accurately logging loans or borrowed materials. 
    • Develops sufficient skill in using library photocopiers, computers, and printers to assist patrons with minor equipment issues.
    • Check out and shelves books, journals, and audiovisuals

    - Must be an enrolled student within one of the Adtalem family of Institutes.

     

    • Must be Federal Work Study eligible
    • Minimum 2.5 GPA
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Ethical decision-making abilities
    • Ability to adapt to varying schedule demands and varying job demands
    • Attentive to detail
    • Excellent organizational skills, and verbal and written communication
    • Good time management
    • Expressed interest or desire to program for a diverse student body
    • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
    • Strong service attitude
    • Typing and/or word processing experience preferred.
