    Chamberlain College of Nursing is seeking Part Time Online Visiting Professors interested in teaching students in our RN to BSN Program. We build long-term relationships with superior nurse educators who are experts in their field and committed to providing the finest in practitioner-focused education.

     

    This is 100% ONLINE teaching, an incredibly flexible and convenient way to share your experience and knowledge with those who aspire to enjoy the career success you already have.  We are currently seeking candidates for the May 2019 session which will run from May 6th through June 29th.

     

    Training Provided:

     

    We care for our students and are dedicated to their success. To ensure we are offering the highest quality education we provide thorough training to all new faculty members. Our New Faculty Orientation is a 3 week session, part time and asynchronous, similar to taking online courses. There is no set schedule, you can work at your own pace and will be participating in group discussions, completing assignments, taking quizzes and a final exam.

     

    The specific courses under consideration for the May 2019 session are:

     

    NR-361: Information Systems in Nursing

    The focus of this course is the understanding of health information systems

    to ethically manage data, information, knowledge and technology to

    communicate effectively; provide safe and effective patient care; and utilize

    appropriate databases to search for evidence based on research to enhance

    the quality of patient care and inform practice decisions. Development

    of competencies in using patient care technologies and information

    management systems is emphasized.

     

    NR-393: Nursing History

    This course explores nursing history from the early years to the current

    century. Students explore historical events and persons while considering

    the impact on today’s professional nursing practice.

     

    NR-394:Transcultural Nursing

    This course will present theories, concepts, beliefs and standards

    related to transcultural nursing. The influence of culture on individuals

    across the lifespan, groups and organizations will be examined. The

    concepts of global nursing on healthcare delivery systems will be explored.

    Students will perform a transcultural nursing assessment on a selected

    individual from a culture that is different from that of the nurse’s.

     

    NR-443: Community Health Nursing

    This course, for RN to BSN option students, focuses on concepts of

    health promotion, health maintenance, education, disease prevention and

    coordination of care for individuals, families or communities. The course

    introduces students to concepts in epidemiology, health assessment of

    families and identification of at-risk populations. Students will learn the

    application of community health principles through selected experiential

    learning activities. The link between health policy and clinical practice

    is emphasized.

     

    NR-447:RN Collaborative Healthcare

    This course, for RN to BSN option students, is designed to expand 

    the scope of nursing practice. The course and selected managerial 

    experiential learning activities provided to RN to BSN option students, 

    focuses on leadership and management aspects of the professional nurse. 

    The emphasis is on the role of the nurse in providing nursing care 

    within the healthcare setting.

    Responsibilities

    In this role, you will:

     

    • Inspire students to complete their programs by providing regular, meaningful feedback about their academic performance, development and participation while encouraging them to engage fully in their education
    • Engage students in meaningful asynchronous threaded discussions at least 4 days per week, moderating participation, evaluating responses and rationales, and responding to questions or comments
    • Evaluate academic progress and comprehension of course content through assigning and grading quizzes, exams and writing assignments
    • Exhibit Chamberlain Care™ by displaying behaviors of care, respect and professionalism, creating a culture that fosters collaboration, cooperation and respect among all
    • Be readily available to meet the needs of a student body that is diverse in age, culture and academic preparation
    • Identify and embrace opportunities to enhance student engagement by reaching out to students in need and responding quickly to requests for help
    • Bring your professional experience to life through professional development, introducing industry perspective into courses and sharing information about nursing trends and opportunities with students
    • Promote student success by demonstrating flexibility in style, schedule, and exhibiting your passion for teaching by devoting time and energy to improve scholarly excellence and subject matter expertise
    • Foster a positive learning environment by maintaining accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic policies
    • Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
    • Model effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
    • Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
    • Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet these requirements:

     

    • BSN and MSN degree required.
    • Must have an active nursing license. For the May 2019 session, it is highly preferred to have a compact, Florida, or Nevada nursing license.  Please note that we are considering applicants with licensure in any states, however, applicants may be considered for future sessions if licensure is not from the preferred states.
    • 2+ years teaching experience required; online teaching experience highly preferred.
    • Must have required subject matter expertise in the course of instruction.
    • Must have excellent communication, motivational, and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
