In the on-campus role of Nurse Educator, Academic Success, in Tinley Park, IL, you will collaborate with the Assistant Dean, Academic Success and other faculty and staff to become instrumental in helping students be successful in their nursing program and in helping to increase the students’ potential for passing the NCLEX-RN.  Working directly with the students, you will identify student strengths, learning styles and areas requiring further development to develop remediation plans.

Responsibilities

 

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the Assistant Dean, Academic Success, to evaluate the performance of Professional Nursing Tutors and coordinate the peer-tutor program.
  • Meet regularly with students to provide information and support as they progress through the nursing program and prepare to take the NCLEX-RN.
  • Provide guidance individually or in groups, in preparation for the standardized final exams, specialty exams, the exit exam and the NCLEX.
  • Tutor students in content area as well as in test-taking skills.
  • Interpret test results with students, counsel and assess learning problems and develop individual student remediation plans.
  • Maintain documentation on student remediation plans, processes and success. 
  • Demonstrate current, detailed and accurate knowledge of exit examinations and the NCLEX-RN as well as current knowledge in the field to provide academic support.
  • Develop reports as required.
  • Support the Assistant Dean in securing and coordinating proctors for all course examinations.
  • Support the Assistant Dean in analyzing student academic data for research and assessment purposes.
  • Demonstrate current, detailed and accurate knowledge of college programs and accurately communicate academic policies and regulations to students.
  • Coordinate standardized testing, including the ordering of and distributing of materials, overseeing exams and evaluating effectiveness of the testing center.
  • Work with the Assistant Dean to implement the Student Academic Success (SAS) Program for students and to coordinate elements of the SAS Program with faculty and staff. 
  • Demonstrate effective behaviors and accountability in meeting the following standards of service excellence to students, fellow team members, and external agencies: Friendliness and courtesy, professional environment, effective communication, and first class service.
  • Participate in professional organizations as appropriate and serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in nursing.
  • Professional nurse licensure.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an academic environment providing classroom instruction or specialized tutoring support.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate via telephone, computer and in person.
