The Clinical Learning Specialist, under the direction of the Dean Curriculum & Instruction, is responsible for collaborating with course leaders to design and implement innovative, high quality clinical/experiential learning content and experiences within the BSN (pre-licensure) curriculum that help students apply knowledge to clinical practice and achieve course and program outcomes.  These clinical experiences may include direct care practice and indirect care practice. The process of designing relevant experiences will include creation/development, process improvement, teaching/learning strategies, and assessment/evaluation.


  • Under the direction of the Dean Curriculum & Instruction and in collaboration with the course leaders, designs and integrates  clinical/experiential learning into our BSN (pre-licensure) nursing courses
  • Researches best-in-class experiential learning practices and incorporates them into courses being developed or updated
  • Uses evaluation data regarding course relevance, effectiveness and quality to make course improvements
  • In partnership with the course leaders, facilitates standardization of clinical content and learning resources for pre-licensure nursing courses.
  • Recommends best way of evaluating a student’s learning from the course experiences
  • Provides orientation and training for campus SIMCARE staff and faculty on appropriate utilization of the SIMCARE center and nursing labs for student experiential learning, and for clinical faculty regarding effective strategies to be utilized in direct patient care settings.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.



  • Master’s degree in nursing with at least 5 years of experience in a clinical setting required
  • Simulation experience required
  • Prior clinical instruction experience in a BSN program strongly preferred
  • Certified Nurse Educator designation strongly preferred
  • Previous curriculum/course development experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment is required.
  • Experience in adult education and/or training preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and determine effective business and alternative solutions
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment of higher education and nursing
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and work in a fast-paced environment with many initiatives
  • Demonstrated competence in use of technology for virtual meetings, project management and training.
  • Ability to work effectively and productively in a remote location
  • Ability to produce high quality outcomes related to multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to function as a productive team member and to consistently model the our values
