Opportunity at a Glance

The Faculty Development Specialist creates and delivers development programs and curriculum for the faculty of the College to promote faculty development.

 

In this role you will be part of a national team responsible for developing and delivering educational materials for the faculty of Chamberlain College, which includes: guiding the growth of faculty with purposeful and effective approaches, that promote extraordinary preparation of faculty at undergraduate and graduate levels; evaluating the effectiveness of the development programs; providing continuous quality improvement of the teaching/learning materials and modalities; developing and maintaining communications of new initiatives and courses available to the faculty; leading teams in the development and facilitation of programs to support faculty in teaching and learning practices; research and scholarship; fostering personal/professional growth; and mentoring.

 

We currently have 3 FDS roles open. The position reports directly to the Dean of Faculty.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with campus and program leadership, identifies faculty needs and delivers educational offerings to advance the effectiveness and professional development of faculty.
  • Supports campus and program leadership in meeting faculty development needs.
  • Designs, implements and evaluates effectiveness of ongoing faculty training and professional development programs such as faculty workshops, seminars, asynchronous learning opportunities and formal education courses.
  • Serves as resource person and mentor for faculty and program leadership.
  • Drives improved outcomes through monitoring and tracking results against goals and outcomes. 
  • Builds and maintains relationships with campus and online faculty to ensure collaboration in initiatives and programs.
  • Collaborates with national teams to support and maintain a mechanism for sharing of best teaching practices throughout the University.
  • Maintains accurate records of CFE sponsored faculty training and developmental activities including topics presented, attendee lists and evaluations. 
  • Guides and supports exemplary programs that encourage transformative learning such as the international experience program and other initiatives.
  • Represents faculty development at campus and remote locations.
  • Evaluates and updates development materials.
  • Recommends and uses technology to implement faculty training and development in a cost-effective manner. 
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (or related field), from a regionally accredited institution
  • Previous scholarship commensurate with Assistant Professor Rank or above
  • Current unencumbered registered nurse license
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing education including didactic and clinical
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in an online environment
  • Broad clinical nursing experience.
  • Ability to effectively and consistently guide teams and develop programs
  • Experience with designing and implementing development programs based on adult learning theory
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Proficient with project management practices and tools; ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects
  • Ability to manage a variety of business and vendor resources.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Ability to influence and instill credibility in administrative team, peers, and subordinates by meeting project milestones, deadlines and budget
  • Ability to work collaboratively, build relationships; demonstrate effective and consistent interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.
