What does a Professional Nursing Tutor do with Chamberlain College? You will be working in the Center for Academic Success (CAS) assisting students with course subject exams, study habits, stress management, learning style content, and review of the NCLEX-RN exam. 

 

This would be a great opportunity for MSN nurses to transition into higher education and share their clinical knowledge with nursing students. This is a part-time temporary role averaging 12 hours per week. Hours are scheduled Monday through Thursday and occasionally Fridays; as early as 12:00PM and as late as 6P:00PM with some flexibility on start and end times.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and leading individual and/or collaborative group sessions that encourage student engagement and instructional support; facilitates students understanding of course objectives and clarification of key content.
  • Tutors students in content area as well as in test taking skills in preparation for all exams (course, standardized, and NCLEX-RN).
  • Assists with assessing the academic needs of the nursing students and developing plans for remediation; maintains documentation on student remediation plans, processes and success.
  • Assists students to develop study and time management skills to promote success on exams.
  • Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of the NCLEX-RN as well as currency in knowledge in the field to provide academic support.
  • Communicates students’ progress to the Assistant Dean, Academic Success.
  • Documents student’s success using Tutor Track.
  • Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of college programs and accurately communicates academic policies and regulations to students.
  • Demonstrates professional behaviors and accountability in meeting the following standards of service excellence to students, fellow team members, and external agencies: Friendliness and courtesy, professional environment, effective communication, first class service.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Professional unencumbered nurse licensure required.
  • 1 year of experience providing support to others in precepting, tutoring, training, instruction, advising academic support services or classroom instruction required.
  • 3+ years of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills with high degree of professionalism.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
