Opportunity at a Glance

The Regional Clinical Placement Specialist position is responsible for coordinating and distributing clinical placements for shared clinical partners for two or more Chamberlain campuses within a metro area (i.e. Chicagoland region) by collaborating with campus colleagues in identifying clinical sites to successfully complete evidence-based learning opportunities. This role supports national clinical strategies and the mission and philosophy of the College as well as represents the College to clinical agencies, students, and the community through clinical placement and business development efforts.

 

This is a Remote/Virtual opportunity however you must reside in the Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with campus deans, clinical coordinators, and course coordinators to ensure adequate faculty coverage, and/or alternative student placement, for clinical groups planned through clinical agency arrangements, resulting in excellent experiences for all students.
  • Directs collaboration and decision making for all shared regional campus placements with clinical coordinators, campus leadership, faculty, Managers of Clinical Relations and National Director of Clinical Learning Resources. Evaluates clinical placement requests, analyzes and assigns available inventory.
  • Manages relationships with partners for the purpose of placement availability. Synthesizes multiple data sets with regard to various clinical agency sites for nursing students to complete clinical rotations. Reconciles projected enrollment needs with available clinical resources.
  • Negotiates student placements with campus and national leadership as well as external stakeholders including Chief Nursing Officers, Directors of Education, Nursing Supervisors, Unit Managers and various other healthcare professionals. Monitor academic progress and scheduling requirements for the campuses throughout the region.
  • Coordinates and attends healthcare-related events such as annual clinical coordination meetings. Attends and contributes to clinical coordination forums and conferences as appropriate for the region.
  • Monitors relationships with existing clinical agency partners to ensure student and clinical site satisfaction. Responsible for the identification, assessment, and resolution of concerns related to regional clinical experiences; facilitates appropriate intervention with faculty and program coordinators.
  • Maintains complete knowledge and understanding of Chamberlain’s curriculum and programs and clearly explain to regional clinical partners.
  • Provides direction for the coordination, evaluation, and orientation of clinical preceptors and clinical instructors utilized in assigned student clinical experiences.
  • Researches, contacts, negotiates, and contracts with potential clinical agencies for student experiences within the region.
  • Coordinates planning and scheduling clinical experiences for students while participating in the identification and assessment of potential and real concerns related to clinical experience for all students.
  • Supports national strategies for the Clinical Learning Resources department.
  • Role modeling behaviors consistent with the TEACH Values for faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and professionalism.
  • Represents Chamberlain to clinical agencies and the community.
  • Manages and builds relationships especially in situations requiring group problem solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • A preference for experience in healthcare field--directly with or for providers is preferred
  • 3-5 years of strong business acumen with excellent communications and negotiation skills
  • Can demonstrate progressive responsibilities including experience managing high volume work streams in a high-pressure environment
  • Must be a highly motivated, self-starter who can be a team player and desires to share creative solutions and best practices
  • Ability to problem-solve and think critically 
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Interpersonal skills along with the ability to communicate with partners regarding placements via phone, email and in person
  • Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks and tolerate frequent interruptions
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • High level of initiative
  • Ability for independent decision-making along with prudent judgment are required
  • Inside sales and/or sales support skills are helpful
  • Must reside in Chicagoland area
  • There will be approximately 25-30% travel, most of which, is in the Chicagoland area
