    Federal Work Study student workers assist various departments per the approved positions below.  All work performed must be in the context of assisting students.

    Approved positions include Activity Assistant, Career Services Student Assistant, Clinical Compliance Assistant, IT/Lab/Help Desk Student Assistant, Library Student Assistant, Registrar Support, Research Assistant, Resident Hall Advisor/Assistants, Student Finance Student Assistant, Student Services Assistant, Academic Support Student Assistant (Tutor/Peer Advisor).

     

    Responsibilities

    • Provide basic customer service, such as greeting students, helping students reserve group study rooms, answering simple informational questions, and helping students use the learning commons computers and other devices.
    • Help maintain an inviting learning commons environment by maintaining order and quiet for study as well as by keeping tables, chairs, study carrels and study rooms neat.
    • Assist students with basic levels of library research and direct students to the appropriate virtual library / librarians.
    • Check the paper supply in the printers and photocopiers regularly, make photocopies for students as needed, and alert IT when there are issues with the learning commons equipment.
    • Help compile learning common’s usage statistics by taking regular head-counts and keeping track of questions asked.

    Qualifications

    • Must be Federal Work Study eligible
    • Minimum 2.5 GPA
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Ethical decision-making abilities
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
    • Expressed interest or desire to program for a diverse student body
    • Good time management
    • Organizational skills
