    Do you have a passion for guiding others to success, especially in Higher Education? In the role of Student Service Advisor with Chamberlain College of Nursing, you will be responsible for promoting student success through accurate and responsive advisement in the areas of academics and student finance. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Student Services, on the campus, you will handle student issues and provide support and advocacy as needed for an assigned portfolio of students throughout their entire student lifecycle.  


    • Using a high level of discretion and independent judgment, you will analyze each student’s situation to develop and implement an individualized financial and academic plan that promotes student success.  You will continuously evaluate the academic and financial plans throughout the student lifecycle and make appropriate adjustments to ensure successful student outcomes.
    • Maintain accurate enrollment, persistence and graduation information for assigned students.  Assess risk factors that may contribute to attrition and proactively work to mitigate those risk factors.  Analyze reports and student feedback to identify academic or financial concerns affecting student progression, and create action plans to address these concerns
    • Collaborate with other departments and processing units to deliver an optimal student experience
    • Help students explore alternatives to overcome issues or problems that may be barriers to persistence or graduation.  Assess the need for other services and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
    • Demonstrate and communicate current, detailed and accurate knowledge of college policies and Title IV regulations to prospective and current students.  Communicate the policies and procedures in a manner that displays deep understanding of the rationale and the value of the policy or procedure to the student.
    • Assist in administrating the Federal Work Study program
    • Attend meetings and contribute to college committees; participate in campus activities and events


    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Outstanding customer service skills with 1+ years of customer service or related experience
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Higher Education is desirable
    • Ability to work a variety of office hours, including evenings and weekends
    • High level of interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team
    • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize effectively
    • PC skills in Microsoft Office, Internet applications and database software, experience with Student Financial Aid software applications a plus
    • Eligible to obtain and maintain systems access to the NSLDS system (must not be in default of Title IV Federal aid)
