    The Visiting Professor of History may instruct any of the following courses:

     

    HUMN303 - Introduction to the Humanities 

    Organized as a seminar in cultural history, this course develops responses to representative works of literature, history, philosophy, music and a wide range of visual and performing arts. Students analyze and evaluate creative works in areas such as painting, poetry, drama, dance, film and architecture. They discover the personal significance of these forms and connections among works, genres, styles and movements. Discussions, essays, oral presentations and visits to cultural venues prepare students for more advanced inquiry in subsequent courses.

     

    HUMN307 - Latin American Humanities

    This course provides an introduction to Latin American humanities, including the visual and performing arts, literature, history and philosophy. Students analyze and evaluate works of art, and examine connections among these works and their cultural, historical and philosophical contexts.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and provides students with an approved syllabus which includes the terminal course objectives.
    • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
    • Models effective strategized communications that engage online students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
    • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
    • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
    • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.

    Qualifications

    You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet the following criteria:

    • A Master's or PhD degree in Humanities or closely related field with an emphasis in ethics along with 18+ earned graduate credit hours directly in the field of instruction, Humanities
    • Candidates with prior higher education teaching experience, especially online, are strongly encouraged to apply
    • Solid subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
    • Excellent motivational and instructional skills to be effective in a non-traditional environment
    • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups
