    Do you have a passion for helping nursing students and a desire to lead an innovative simulation program? Chamberlain’s sophisticated SIMCARE CENTER facilities closely replicate hospital and clinical settings. The nursing skills laboratories feature high-tech training equipment including patient monitoring, birthing simulators and physical assessment exam tables. Many of our students point to their experience in the SIMCARE CENTER as the first time they felt like a “real nurse.” During simulated scenarios, students are challenged to react in real-time to patient scenarios and are empowered to take the lead in the care of their patient. 


    As the SIMCARE Center Manager, in partnership with Campus SIMCARE Operations & Lab Team, National Clinical Learning Resource Department, campus leadership, clinical coordinators, course coordinators, faculty and staff you will:


    • Lead all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences for Chamberlain campus and web-based students with appropriate resources to successfully complete learning opportunities in simulated patient care environment
    • Support faculty and college leadership with initiatives involving clinical simulation research and effective teaching strategies in a simulated patient care environment
    • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of national standard operating procedures through best practice sharing and regular communications with other campus SIMCARE Center Managers and college leadership.
    • Support the mission and philosophy of Chamberlain College and represent the College to clinical agencies, students, and the community by leading the lab and simulation scheduling and collaborative efforts.   


    From privacy curtain areas to scrub sinks to hospital beds, Chamberlain University’s SIMCARE CENTER facilities closely replicate hospital and clinical settings. The nursing skills labs feature high-tech training equipment — including patient monitoring equipment, a birthing simulator and physical assessment exam tables. As part of the instution's commitment to academic excellence, the SIMCARE CENTER is also supported by a resource center that helps with the development of complex skills like medication calculation.




    • Manage the planning and scheduling of students, faculty, and staff by ensuring open lab and structured lab utilization times.
    • Manage oversight of students during practice and/or skill development.
    • Perform lab specialist and student workers’ job functions when needed.
    • Collaborate with organizational leadership in the logistics of interviewing and management of lab employees.
    • Demonstrate effective behaviors and accountability in meeting standards of service excellence to students, fellow team members, and external agencies.
    • Collaborate with campus and national leadership to achieve goals for the SIMCARE Center.
    • Coordinate with faculty to achieve expected student learning outcomes.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure preparation of lab supplies and equipment based on requests and course schedule.
    • Provide orientation, support, guidance, and mentorship to faculty, staff, and student workers in supporting student needs.
    • Market and promote lab and simulation resources for all stakeholders.
    • Oversee preparation and maintenance of all campus labs and simulated patient care environments with equipment, supplies, media, computers, and materials needed to replicate virtual healthcare setting.
    • Manage activities on behalf of campus and in collaboration with national leadership to enhance the individual skills and capacities of all stakeholders; leading to improved organizational performance.
    • Participate in professional organizations as appropriate and serves on College committees as assigned.
    • Demonstrate current knowledge of national simulation organizations while applying standards and policies to maintain operational effectiveness
    • Leads effort to implement evidence - based practice for simulation, and experiential learning.
    • Track and analyze reports detailing the usage, challenges and accomplishments of the SIMCARE Center and provide recommendations for addressing the areas for opportunity as appropriate.
    • Complete work in a timely manner, including preparing, documenting, and tracking student and faculty lab utilization.
    • Collaborate regarding to budget planning, ordering, and maintaining inventory of all lab supplies, equipment, furniture, models, AV equipment, and laboratory manuals.
    • Develop CEA requests for proposal and approvals, including vendor quotes and collaboration with finance.
    • Supervise activities on behalf of campus and in collaboration with national leadership to ensure students and faculty have adequate scheduled opportunities for certifications, such as BLS, ACLS, and PALS etc.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.

    • Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with current BLS CPR and unencumbered RN license required.
    • Minimum three years of strong clinical experience in acute patient care and/or medical-surgical nursing and/or emergency or trauma conditions, as well as excellent knowledge and understanding of human pathophysiology.
    • Minimum one year of team leadership or management.
    • Experience with human patient simulators and audio/visual or telemedicine preferred, as well as MSOffice.
    • Pre-programming and “on-the-fly” programming of patient simulators, basic trouble-shooting and maintenance of simulators preferred.
    • Knowledge or experience with audio/visual equipment and control software a plus.
    • BLS CPR instructor certification strongly encouraged for this position; ACLS and/or PALS a plus; medication calculation necessary.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, self-directed, and critical thinking skills.
    • Occasional irregular work hours along with overnight travel.
